Kevin went back to work today, so I was left to deal with the mess in the yard. The fallen tree crushed Darcy’s slide and one of our nice lawn chairs, but otherwise no damages. The wires actually disconnected from the mast and didn’t break anything. We were very lucky. I also discovered a half uprooted tree near the garage, which needed attention.

Still feverish, I called hydro. Not only did I get through to a real person fairly quickly, but they said someone would be here around 3:00. I thought they might say next week! There was someone here around 10:30 who assessed the problem. Meanwhile I called Bum to ask him if could come over to help me cut up and the fallen maple tree. Another Hydro person came and removed the live wires so we could work safely. He also explained to me that since it was a fallen tree there was no charge for any of the work by Hydro. J

Bum arrived and we assessed a half uprooted tree near the garage. We estimated it at about 70 feet high and leaning on a pretty good angle towards my new neighbour’s house! Another strong wind or more rain and it would come down. We decided to leave it to an expert, so when Arbexpert showed up at the neighbour’s I got him to come and give me an estimate. $350, but Kevin and I decided it would be worth it.

While Bum and I were cutting and cleaning up the maple tree, 2 Hydro technicians arrived and had my wires reconnected in about 30m minutes. Within less than 24 hours from the incident everything was fixed…AMAZING.
