We opened up the cottage Saturday after our 8:00 swimming lesson. There were 2 leaks, but Kevin had them fixed in no time and we had running hot and cold water by lunch time! In the afternoon we tackled dismantling the cursed floating dock until we just could not take the bugs anymore. Meanwhile Darcy was at Nanna's and I could hear her tickling away on the piano.
We had our first official BBQ of the season that night, too. Chicken brochette and potatoes. YUM!
We didn't get to spend a lot of time outside between the rain and bugs, but it was still nice to be at the lake. We saw geese, loons, and ducks on the lake. Our feeder had a squirrel (Go-go), blue jays and chickadees. We also saw a wee chipmunk scurrying around. .

Darcy is re-discovering all the natural wonders a cottage has to offer, from the spider in the corner of the kitchen (I left her there to eat black flies!) to water fowl, to the soft, brown tunnels from the moles (or voles) in the back yard, to the lake itself. It is amazing how much she understands and the names she remembers. Here are some cute examples:

I won't even try to write the way she says mosquito...too funny.
