A tour of an old church/our future library

Entry

They are saving and restoring all the original window frames from the main part of the church.

This is the basement and will house the circulation desk, some stacks, washrooms, a cafe, and a dedicated children's area where more noise would be permitted than usual. The circle that looks like a pie in the background depicts where a spiral staircase will be.

Another view of the basement showing the entrance. Lines on the ground show where certain areas and offices will be.

This is where the spiral staircase will come up, in the main part of the church. I think they said reference materials and periodicals would be here and a multimedia area.

Stairs that go up to the church bells.

Mock-up. The flat area at the left near the trees will be an outdoor deck where you can sit and read books.

It was a really neat tour and although I don't think we'll actually see that new library for a long time, when we do it will be fantastic!
