whoops...somehow forgot about the organic farm (Sept 2010)

.
When Kevin was gone up north last fall, Charla & family invited us to visit the organic farm they get their fruits & veggies from. The pictures from our day there were in my cell phone until yesterday (March 15, 2011)...I don't use my cell phone's camera very much!

I finally got the photos onto my computer and thought, "Oh, I'll go and add those to the blog post." Well there is no blog post! So better late than never!!!

Amelia made friends with this fuzzy caterpillar.

They had 50 egg-laying hens, which produce 2 eggs each every day!

We saw the inside of their greenhouses and how they coil up the cucumber vines as they harvest the cucumbers. That way it takes up less room and they can keep the vines growing for several months. They also have bees in the greenhouse for pollination. Really neat!

We had a picnic lunch on the lawn of the farm house. It was a beautiful and very warm day. The kids had fun running around and hiding in the hedges. After lunch we went on a tour of the rest of the farm. Cameron was very interested in large fields of carrots and brussel sprouts, etc. Maybe he'll have a summer job there one day!
